  19. Just a minor point, to appreciate an amiga requires some experience with
  20. platforms and knowledge of computer architecture.  That is not what I would 
  21. call the beginer who can't afford a PC yet somehow thinks the amiga is better 
  22. because it has had preemptive multitasking since whenever.   Unless they have 
  23. been brainwashed by an amiga cult that ain't happening. :)

  25. Comparing prices, PCs and amigas are around the same.  With PCs you get
  26. standards and cheap upgrades but bulky software and you generally have to buy a
  27. bundle of hardware to start.  With the amiga you get proprietariness up the
  28. whazoo and expensive upgrades but you can eek out some activity on the machine
  29. in its bare state.  If you have any choice in the matter at all you will go PC.
  30. If you are really strapped for cash you will go amiga yet resent it.

  32. Some of this can change however, the amiga can become less proprietary and
  33. allow cheap upgrades but you lose the ability to eek out some life from the
  34. machine sans everything.  The PC can get religion and use less bulky software.
  35. I don't see much hope of either happening at the moment but I want to be wrong.
